I am a qualified secondary school teacher and native speaker of English who has a BA, Diploma in Secondary Teaching, a Certificate in Teaching Children with Learning Difficulties and a Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

After teaching at several high schools, I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at tertiary level, and then became a private English tutor. For many years I was a tutor for both SPELD and SPELADD, organisations which support children who have specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and attention deficit disorder.

When I shifted to Auckland 14 years ago, I started my own private tutoring business including adults as well as children.

I believe that the relationship between tutor and student is very important. When there is trust and a sense of humour, we can work together on the task at hand and gain a sense of achievement. Many students also get the results they were after or more!

I enjoy working with a variety of people of all ages and nationalities and am happy to teach online or meet at a café at Eastridge Shopping Centre, Mission Bay, Auckland.
